    The SMART guitar is definitely what every bedroom guitarists next-door neighbour will fall in love with. especially in the semi-detached homes so common in the UK! I'd been on much better terms with my neighbours on the other side of the brick wall if I'd had one of these in the 70's. Come to think of it, I'd also have been on better terms with my parents in the room downstairs 🤪 Excelent use of modern digital electronics and materials to produce an affordable instrument that can do so much. The only fault (unless it's a feature The Great Sped missed) would be the ability to bluetooth a backing track into it from your phone.

    Vibrato is the difference between sounding pro and sounding amateur. It’s a player’s fingerprint. Decades ago someone said to me “never bend a string without vibrato” - best piece of advice ever. Unless you’ve got perfect pitch it’s an absolute must. Come to think of it, even if you’re lucky enough to have perfect pitch always add vibrato when you bend a string.

    Back in the mid-70s is when I started to learn guitar and Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" kick started this journey I have been on since then. Jimmy Page was a major influence to my learning, some theory too, because his way of composing on the instrument was unique. The amount of chordal voicings he puts into the music along with all the contributions John Paul, Robert, and John made. It would have not been Led Zeppelin without these four. Then all the other modern guitarists out around then and after only added to the list. Like your channel and how you go about teaching these songs with some history tossed.

      I would never recommend one over the other, as it depends on your personal preference. Are you referring to the SE 594? I haven't played one myself, but I've heard it's fantastic. If possible, try playing both and make your choice; whichever you choose will be the right one for you.

    Never forget, and I think he did it again in 2021, Slash playing this completely different. But theres some video, know idea where they were, where Joe and Slash play Walk this Way together and Slash's playing it wrong and Joe smiles at him and shows him where it is and Slash smiles and joins him. It's like an epic moment of teacher vs. student and Slash smiles and plays it Joe's way. But back to 21 Tyler and Grohl and Slash play it and Slash is playing this part different again. I imagine like myself, years before we could pull up a youtube video you just played what you heard and if it was close enough youd dtick with it. But Walk this Way, as famous as it is, gets brutalized by cover bands all over the world. From the opening drum part being the wrong tempo or not enough swing in it to the solos in between...and forget the end...that outro is so out of this world I've never heard it played like it was recorded with Jack Douglas. Even by Aerosmith. Thats an incredible recording. But I've listened to this song countless times and im convinced, and ill die on this hill, that the second go round for the verses the accents are different on that recording making it nigh impossible to replicate. Which isn't that far fetched considering live recording in studios back in the day and Douglas cutting tape. Even isolated i hear a difference. Man i love Aerosmith. What an amazing body of work!

    If you're you're a Joe Perry fan you know but just in case you don't go find his rig set up for the Las Vegas residency. He was late in his 60s and the tech said he had like 8 or 9 amps on stage, mic'd, that ran to the back where he had this drawer of pedals, completely different than the tour before because i saw that set up, and then had a controller out front in two places (where he'd normally play and for the part of the set where he joins Steven closer to the audience) and of course all that got run to the house. Point is i have ALWAYS watched Joe Perry staring at that fretboard digging for notes, for sounds, and playing countless guitars. Fascinates me all these other professionals have their signature series and always sound the same but Joe has been digging since 1970 to always find something new and enjoy that journey and beat the monotony of touring that long literally showing us it doesnt have to just be a job. The fun never ends. Just keep playing. And all the while looking like such a badass. Long live Aerosmith man. Damn. What a freaking career. Love those guys.

    Man this is great video! I was considering doing a little video on my tiny YT channel about vibrato but you have covered all the bases, and with better production than my iPhone 11😊. I have been playing a while, but when I first got really into lead guitar I got really into guys like SRV, Hendrix, and old Clapton, and those guys all have great vibrato. With blues playing there is such a premium on feel and vibrato, it’s something you have to work on. I do often see players on YT who are really great technically but maybe they have erratic vibrato or vibrato that is out of tune. Really takes me out of the song. It’s like hearing someone sing out of key. Long story short, this vid should have 100k views because a lot of players need to be more aware of this, because even if you can play flashy licks, if your vibrato and bends suck, your playing suffers. Cheers 🎸🤘🏼

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding 7 дней назад

      Thank you for your awesome comment. I am stoked that you found the video so useful and relatable. As you may have heard in the introduction, good vibrato-or at least the concept and fundamental technique-somewhat eluded me in my youth. I too wish I had received more detailed guidance back then. Today, I took one of my students through a vibrato lesson similar to this one earlier today, and the difference by the end was remarkable.
